Still captured by my summer reading cluster of historical romances set in the Old West of Arizona, I dove into WANTED MAN, the second in the Stone Creek series. A character who shows up oh so casually in the first title is the main character here. Rowdy Rhodes (not his real name, but how he decides on it is explained) is hired by Sam O'Ballivan as Marshall in Stone Creek, Arizona and swears him in as a Ranger, too, should he be so needed.

One of the first people he meets is Lark Morgan (not her real name), who we learn has done the unthinkable in the late 19th and very early 20th century: she has successfully initiated a divorce from her wealthy railroad-owning husband at least 30 years her senior.

Rowdy and Lark's separate and joint adventures with other memorable characters (including one laudanum-swilling woman who rents out rooms and makes cake for her long-dead husband) makes for a fun read, even as life for law-abiding citizens in 1904 included having to contend with criminals who sometimes seemed more numerous.

Good book
What a wonderful romantic old west adventure. Loved the characters and the storyline. Read the whole Stonecreek series because of the continuing characters outlined in the books. Each one different, but each one good. When you wonder what happened to those characters, I loved that in the next books it mentions them and how they are living now with families of their own. Loved it!
Love anything that B. J. Daniels writes.
Love it!!!!
Wonderful book but I expect Nothing less from Linda Label Miller. This is a love story with some mystery thrown in with a bit of redemption thrown in for good measure.Such a great read I couldn't put it down until I finished it and it is 5am.
Rowdy, outlaw, son of an outlaw, brother to an outlaw, but just now a town Marshall. Lark, schoolmarm, innocent young woman, both with secrets and their lives are almost totally lies.
But Rowdy falls circUlar and she falls for him and life just keeps getting in the way of their happiness.
Another great story my this author. I like just about all of her books with the historical western being my favorites. Enjoyed hearing about characters from previous stories in this series.
One thing that I didn't like was that she is using the word "prone" wrong. If you're in a bathtub and you're in a prone position you are going to drown because prone is face down. She's used this in another book also. I guess this is a silly thing to complain about but authors should know the meaning of a word if they're going use it.
